奧克蘭音樂家Shayne P Carter 和他的樂團本週在墨城的The Yarra Hotel 連續演出三晚。
Shayne P Carter 在早期曾參與過許多在紐西蘭具有影響力的樂團如：Straitjacket Fits, The DoubleHappys 和 Bored Games等，這些樂團在當地獲獎無數，他本身也是紐西蘭音樂名人堂的榮譽會員之一。目前除了個人發行專輯外，還有參與另一搖滾流行樂團— The Adults。
Shayne P Carter 本身就是一位很出色的樂手，上月還來過台灣高雄與毛利舞蹈團 / Maori Dance Group 巡演兩週。在聽過他今年九月發行的新專輯《Offsider 》後，一直很期待參加他的現場演出，而這週在墨城的演出，我當然要去。
昨晚是我第一次參加Shayne P Carter 的現場，第一首Intro 曲目即有十分鐘之長，是結合後搖滾、瞪鞋元素的純演奏曲目，雖不同於專輯風格，但這就是看現場才會有的驚喜。坦白說，我完全沒有在腦海中夢遊的時間（不好的樂團會讓妳在演出時不斷回想剛剛吃的晚餐是什麼）。
Shayne P Carter 和鼓手 Gary Sullivan （他也超讚）和貝斯手James Duncan 絕對是火力全開的演奏，Shayne 乾爽的吉他和他的襯衫隨著一首首的曲目，漸漸地全部濕透，因為他們一口氣地玩了兩小時多近三小時，只有少量的講話，歌曲與歌曲之間幾乎沒有空隙。
除演奏新專輯《Offsider 》的曲目之外，Shayne P Carter 仍演奏了之前的作品，和更新的曲目，他的音樂脈絡即是結合了所有Indie 和電子音樂的元素，品味驚人，真的每首歌都是驚喜。

Auckland musician Shayne P Carter and his band have been playing in Melbourne this week at The Yarra Hotel.
Last night was my first time to watching Shayne and his band play live, I really like his stuff and live it was absolutely great! They played for around two to three hours. A lot of tracks from his new album 'Offsider' as well as older tracks. Shayne’s music mixes elements of 90’s indie scene and electronic music. I’d strongly recommend you to check out his Bandcamp, also if you are in the Melbourne, please come tonight for The final night of Shayne P Carter's Yarra Hotel residency happens at 8pm with support from Cam Butler. Tickets are $25 presale + BF and $30 on the door. Don't miss this one folks! The last two nights have been unreal.

Today was Record Store Day, with record stores all across Melbourne holding gigs. I myself am a very big Swans and had saw that Sound Spaces and Room40 was bringing out Swans very own Guitarist Norman Westberg for a free gig at Monash University Museum of Art. As I sat down, I put in my earplugs in and the show was beginning.
The stage was very minimal, alongside his guitar stood two amplifier stacks and a tall white table for his pedals. Norman played a very beautiful set, filled with delay ridden drones and soundscapes. Using his guitar, Norman created loops that felt as if they were circulating around the room. The sound encaptured the entire audience- around 50 people, with many closing their eyes for the set.
After 25 minutes the show finished, leaving everyone wanting more. A few people stayed around to chat with Norman. I told him that last time Swans played Taipei was incredible, and they should come back again. He told me hopefully they might be back after their new album is released (17th June). He was very gentle and quiet, and let me take a photo saying hello to Taiwan. Also very cute, he told me he finished the gig early because the lights were too bright for his eyes- but he really liked todays sounds.
After we finished our conversation, I saw a cute older woman who was very amazed by his music. She didn't know who Norman or Swans were, but norman still hung out and thanked her, it was very sweet.

墨爾本是音樂之城，在今天尤其熱鬧，全城的唱片行都擠滿了許多的促銷活動和免費演出，這是一個樂迷和收藏家最喜歡的日子—Record Store Day。我捨棄了這個重大節慶，並前往離市區有段距離的蒙納市大學附設MUMA藝術中心，觀賞Norman Westberg（Swans的吉他手）的免費演出。
Myer Music Bowl是一個大型的戶外場地，就像一顆含著珍珠的蚌殼，舞台即是珍珠，大約有兩千三百個座位席圍繞著，一大片斜坡般的外圍就像蚌殼，是可容納超過一萬人的站立席。我曾有過切身之痛，就是參加去年（2015）十一月Tame Impala的演出。澳洲出了名的毒品酗酒問題，搭配上這來自伯斯的迷幻樂團組合，真讓我大開眼界！視線不良只是其中之一的小問題，最惱人的是東倒西歪、隨時會跌倒在妳身上和大聲說話及胡鬧的觀眾，而我這樣講已經算是很客氣了。我怎樣都猜不透這些人為何要花上將近台幣一千五百元的門票，再私帶烈酒、毒品進場，喝到吐、嗑到掛......到了一種根本不知道誰在台上表演的程度。
霎時一個熟悉的鋼琴獨奏清爽的落下，我不由自主地跟著全場尖叫起來，是Derrick May的生涯代表作〈Strings of Life〉。記得Derrick May曾說：「如果你來我放歌的場子想要聽〈Strings of Life〉，那就滾吧！」但今晚的節目不同，也是目前唯一能親耳聽見他本人演奏的機會了，而透過指揮家Dzijan Emin的領導，更令我感受到舞台上的靈魂充滿著熱情的律動，精彩絕倫。

電子樂對於Derrick May來說就像是一個無垢、無限的宇宙。因為住在底特律，那裡的一切對他來說既醜陋又雜亂。電子樂不僅還給他美好事物的想像力，也是啟發他開始創作的影響之一。這首歌在1988年發行時剛好迎上80末、90初Acid House的熱潮，這些成熟的因緣，為底特律之音開了一扇門，Techno一炮而紅並席捲了全世界，接著歐洲、英國的音樂家又重新演繹了Techno，如今2016年，Techno已變成全世界夜生活的風格代表，放Techno的俱樂部從週五開始營業，一路不間斷到週日，時代徹底改變，音樂只是狂歡的輔助品。又有誰還記得最具指標性的底特律舞廳——The Music Institute？在當年，舞客們只單純為音樂而來，不僅人人有著開放的心胸，聽到音樂甚至還會全場齊唱，而且只賣果汁不賣酒，甚至還沒人抽菸......這樣的精神，還有誰記得呢？
